Gender roles are socially constructed and differ in time and place. Gender inequality is not a biologically given natural situation. Biologically the sexes (male, female, intersex) are rather stable over time. Meantime, the gender relations are constructed by people over the centuries, violently imposed by male dominsted societies, expanded during colonialism and imperialism to populations worldwide, and imposed by laws that excluded women from decision making power, from universities, from equal access to employment and income during centuries. This has created gender-and-race-segregated structures, which are now repeated in AI. Only the last century women and other colonialised people have been able to gain ground for their equal rights. Gender Equality is a question of social justice and a goal in itself to achieve a society where every human being counts and can fully enjoy their fundamental human rights; independently of their biological sex, race, appearance, (dis)ability, believes, etc. .
